“I’ve just done a short film with Helena Christensen,” he tells me. “I can’t say anything more about it. I’ve probably said too much as it is.”
It would, alas, appear that Gandy is not alluding to the title role in the much-talked-about film Mandrake the Magician, although readers would doubtless say that he is sufficiently good-looking.
The 30-year-old Essex-born model has also occasionally been talked about as a possible successor to Daniel Craig in the role of James Bond. He laughs when I ask him about the stories.
“That would be a dream come true,” he says.
Nick Clegg's handwriting is illegible
Gordon Brown's handwriting was often barely legible, but officials at the Commons are now looking back at it with a degree of nostalgia as they become acquainted with Nick Clegg's hand.
They have had to admit defeat with a letter he wrote last month about his unfortunate remark in the Commons in which he appeared to put distance between himself and official government policy on Iraq. "I am happy to make clear my comments in the House on July 21 represented my long-held personal view on the legality of the Iraq conflict," he wrote.
The salutation, written in ink, looks like "Dear Hun." The Commons archivists have plumped instead for "To illegible" for the files.
Calum Best puts best foot forward
Calum Best is set to join the ever-growing list of celebrities who write their autobiographies before they turn 30.
His may, however, prove a cut above the rest as he tells me that it will have much to say about his experiences growing up as the son of the football legend and renowned alcoholic George Best.
"He was a huge part of my life and so of course I will be writing about him," Calum tells me at a party at the new Planet Hollywood in Haymarket. "I couldn't not write about him."
Best has admitted to almost stumbling onto the same self-destructive path that his father took, but says he is now living a much healthier lifestyle and is also taking acting lessons.

The Diary can reveal how the MTV presenter has been getting close to the Essex-born catwalk star for a number of months now after meeting at a showbiz party in London.
Best known as the face of Dolce & Gabbana's fragrance Light Blue, 6ft 2in Gandy (30) is said to be extremely taken with Bray native Laura (24), after the pair enjoyed a string of secret dates this summer.
And after keeping their budding romance under the radar for so long, it seems the high-profile pair were finally ready to go public this week, when they were spotted sharing a kiss at The Expendables aftershow party at the new Planet Hollywood in London.
It wasn't the first public outing for the showbiz duo however, given that they also attended The 12th Annual White Tie And Tiara Ball to benefit the Elton John AIDS Foundation in Windsor last June. Dressed to impress in a shimmering grey gown teamed with red accessories, up and coming TV star Laura pulled out all the stops for her debut appearance at the A-list bash, which was attended by big-name celebrities including Valentino, Elizabeth Hurley, Kate Beckinsale and many more.
Just days earlier, smitten David had jetted to Scotland to attend the Fifth Scottish Fashion Awards, which took place in Glasgow Science Centre, in order to show his support for the Journalism graduate.
dirt
Laura had been asked to host the exclusive fashion event, which included a VIP dinner and runway show from Swarovski.
Friends have revealed how the blonde beauty is determined not to use her new romance to generate headlines however, and says she won't be dishing the dirt on her new beau anytime soon.
"Laura is extremely private when it comes to her love life so she's been trying to keep it quiet for the past few months," said a close pal.
"It's very early days and both she and David have been taking their time getting to know each other.
"They've both been very busy with work as Laura's been away in Ibiza filming her new MTV show, Ibiza Rocks, while David is constantly travelling for his job so they've been catching up in London whenever they're both there.
"Obviously she thinks he's absolutely gorgeous. Who wouldn't?" they added.
This isn't the first time Laura has been linked to a hunky male, after she and Desperate Housewives star Jesse Metcalfe were linked after meeting at the MTV Europe Music Awards last year. She is also said to have had a brief romance with Gossip Girl star, Chace Crawford.
